Preparing an Original Competition Ferrari
Unlike many concours cars, this Ferrari had not spent its life hidden away in a collection. It had been driven, raced and enjoyed exactly as it was intended. That is what makes a car like this so special—but it also makes preparing it for auction a real challenge.
Working within a very limited timeframe, our goal was not to restore the car, but to preserve its authenticity while presenting it at the highest possible standard. Every surface was carefully cleaned, refined and protected with respect for its originality and history.

About this Ferrari F40 Competizione
Built in 1989, this Ferrari F40 began life as a standard European-market F40 before being expertly converted to Competizione specification in the late 1990s by Martin Shaw's Specialised Cars in Manchester. Inspired by the legendary Michelotto F40 LM race cars.
Its twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V8 was upgraded to produce approximately 648 horsepower and 763 Nm of torque. Today it is believed to be one of only around 27 privately converted F40 Competizione cars, making it one of the rarest and most desirable competition-derived Ferrari F40s in existence. The car remained with a single owner for more than two decades and was offered with an extensive package of spare parts and a history report by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini.
At the Broad Arrow Auctions during the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este 2025, the Ferrari achieved a final sale price of €2,312,500, confirming its status as one of the headline cars of the auction.
